Two Lightning Speed Time Management Tips

Today, we’ve got JUST FOR YOU — two lightning speed time management tips. It’s so easy to slip into cultural expectations when the holidays roll around, to feel the pull of going ALL OUT with activities and photos and gifts and organization and treats. Friends… all our lives need is for us to be ALL IN with whatever the season looks like to you. To do that, you need to know that you’re making the most of your time… which means you gotta MANAGE that precious time. Here are a few things that help us maximize our productivity (so that we can spend more time watching This Is Us and slowly sipping coffee next to the hubby, because that’s what Christmas is going to look like for us this year).

The One Touch Rule

Let’s face it, we all love to be distracted. Fluffy kitten videos are our jam. We can scroll through HONY for hours. And Pinterest is riiiiiight there. Enter the One Touch Rule! Once you’ve touched “on” to a task (let’s say opening up your inbox or emptying the dishwasher) – the rule dictates that you have to finish it before you move on to the next task.

Multitasking is not a thing. One distraction means we waste 25 minutes getting back on track. If you’re not going to get it done, leave it till you can.

I have a tough time blocking out my time in advance, but this rule has been a game changer for me! Oh, and if you want to take it to the next level, tack on the Two Minute Rule! If you come across a task that’ll take less than two minutes to complete (let’s say, putting away that load of laundry or renewing your library books) – do it right away.

The Weekly Cycle

When’s the last time you planned a batch of content? Caught up on every single email? Watered your plants? Washed your sheets? If you’re not quite sure, maybe it’s time to sit down and create a weekly schedule. This takes a little bit of time to hash out originally, but once you do – things get done, on time, and your life will feel so much more manageable!
  1. Jot down every single thing that you do on a regular basis.
  2. Designate a day of the week for each of them.
  3. Keep that list handy so you don’t forget!
I operate my entire life on a weekly cycle. Knowing what I’m going to work on frees up so much brain space for, you know, actually working on the things.

It’s the best feeling to know that when I go to bed on Saturday night, my house will be tidy… and that first thing Monday morning, I’m going to sit down for a CEO Date and plan the week ahead.

Keep a list, make a schedule, don’t get distracted, and your holidays will be smooth sailing. Merry merry! We hope these two lightning speed time management tips make your life oh! so easy! this holiday season.
